This is a simple guide to explain the process of adding a link to SurfTheChannel, it may seem really obvious to some but to others they may need help so this is where they'll get it.

You must be registered on the main site before attempting to post a link. Unless you are registered on the main site you will not see the "AddLink" menu button.

The first thing you need to decide is what you want to add to STC. Have you come across a TV show, a music vid or some sports maybe? Whichever it is you need to be certain that the URL you are going to add to STC is the URL to the source site that the video is on. By source site we mean the site that hosts the video file. Look at these examples to see the difference:

A page with a YouTube video embedded in it is not a valid link.
A YouTube page with a video in it is a valid link.

The reason we need the source site URL as opposed to any other is so that we can find the location of the video on that site. Here is a list of sites that we support so far and the format that the link you post needs to be in:

...and if you add a link to STC that from a site that we don't support don't worry! The link will be stored in the database and flagged as a URL that needs us to support that site, as soon as we add that site to the supported list your link will appear on the site.

Well, we don't upload the sites ourselves we just find them elsewhere. If you've found a show somwhere and you'd liek to add it you can use the add a link form and we'll put it up on the site!
